Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy: A Step-by-Step Process

1.Preparation and Anesthesia

  • Some time recently the Method: You’ll meet with your surgical group to examine the method, its benefits, and any concerns you might have.
  • Anesthesia: On the day of the surgery, you’ll be given anesthesia to ensure you’re comfortable and pain-free throughout the procedure.

2.Making Small Incisions

  • Incisions: Instead of a large cut, the surgeon makes several small incisions in your abdomen. These minor openings are where the surgical devices and camera will be embedded in the Lab.

3.Inserting the Laparoscope

  • Laparoscope: A thin, flexible tube with a camera and light is carefully inserted through one of the incisions. This allows the surgeon to see inside your abdomen on a monitor in the operating room.

4.Performing the Surgery

  • Surgical Instruments: Other small instruments are inserted through additional incisions. The surgeon uses these tools to perform the necessary procedure, whether it’s removing the gallbladder, appendix, or repairing a hernia.

5.Monitoring and Adjustments

  • Viewing and Adjusting: Throughout the surgery, the surgeon monitors the camera feed and adjusts the instruments as needed to ensure precision.

6.Completing the Procedure

  • Finishing Up: Once the surgery is complete, the instruments are removed, and the small incisions are closed, typically with stitches or adhesive strips.
